DuBois, PA — Since the start of the pandemic, the YMCA in DuBois has been closed. As Clearfield County transitions into the green phase on Friday, they'll reopen to members with more precautions set in place.
Since entering the yellow phase, the DuBois YMCA only offered child care for essential workers.
Starting Friday, the YMCA will reopen to members.
Daniel Dowling, President & CEO of the DuBois YMCA, says they laid out a plan that'll encourage social distancing and cleanliness for Friday's reopening.
He said they switched from a hand key entry system to a touchless barcode system for members.
He also said hours will be reduced to keep the gym at 50% occupancy and to give the staff time to clean the gym.
As far as masks are concerned, they recommend people to wear masks when coming into the building but not while exercising.
Dowling said only key personnel have been on staff since the start of the pandemic.
He says he's slowly bringing employees back to prepare for the reopening on Friday.
"I think its great that we're able to open our doors. YMCA's are made to be used and made to bring people together not keep them out and it's a great sign that we're able to do that," said Dowling.
Dowling also said the racquetball courts and sauna will be closed to promote social distancing.
