WINDBER -- Windber police filed charges against Heather Singer on Thursday for conspiracy in a case that involves her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Cortland Michalides.

It was just a few weeks ago Michalides was taken into custody for a shooting that happened in the 700 block of Graham Avenue in Windber.

According to the criminal complaint, Michalides told police Singer hired him as a hit man but shot the wrong person

The 32-year-old Singer is facing multiple conspiracy charges including criminal homicide and aggravated assault.

Last month, police arrested Michalides for shooting Theresa McDonald inside her Windber home.

Documents say Michalides was hired to shoot McDonald's son. Both men used to date Singer.

According to a criminal complaint filed Thursday, Michalides told police Singer was with him the night of the incident.

Documents say police used surveillance video from Sheetz that show Michalides and Singer together within minutes of the shooting.

Police said the car the pair arrived and left in was registered to Singer.

Singer was taken into custody by Windber police while at work on Thursday.

According to documents, Singer admitted she was with Michalides and told police she was scared for her safety. She also told them she drove Michalides to McDonald's home and waited for him in the car during the incident.

Singer and Michalides are both being held in Somerset County Jail at $1 million bail.

Singer's preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 20th.

Michalides was arraigned Wednesday night after returning from Kentucky where he was arrested. His preliminary hearing is set for April 13th.
