State police have released the identity of the victim in Monday's deadly shooting at the Walmart in Punxsutawney.

Troopers say that Alex Roy, 20, was pronounced dead after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

State police in Jefferson County have provided new details about Monday's deadly shooting at the Walmart in Punxsutawney.

Troopers now say that the shooting was the result of an altercation between two brothers.

Police say the altercation lead to one brother shooting the other in the chest.

A Walmart spokesperson confirmed that the incident occurred in the parking lot of the Supercenter.

Police have not provided any information regarding the identities of the shooter or the victim.

Authorities say the Jefferson County DA's office is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Troopers say the fatal shooting reportedly occurred following an altercation between two males, in which one of the males shot the other.

Jefferson County coroner Brenda Schumaker says one person is dead following a shooting at the Walmart in Punxsutawney.

Authorities say a heavy police presence has been reported at the Walmart and there is no threat to the public.

According to a social media post from the Elk Run Volunteer Fire Company, the public is being asked to avoid the area.

The Punxsutawney Area School District also posted online that the school was in a temporary "perimeter hold," meaning no one was allowed to leave or enter the building.
