Jefferson Co., PA (WJAC) — Punxsutawney Phil was officially inducted into the Weather Discovery Center's "Meteorologist Hall of Fame" on Wednesday.
Officials say Phil was inducted as the final member of the prestigious group, which includes 6 News Chief Meteorologist Tony Martin.
Every February 2nd, thousands of people travel to Punxsutawney to witness Phil's forecast.
Staff at Gobbler's Knob say Phil began his forecasting career in 1887 and has inspired songs, poetry and cinema in the decades that followed.
6 News will be attending the annual ceremony Thursday at Gobbler's Knob, which will include an appearance by the newest Governor of Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro.
