An Easter egg hunt for children with special needs was held in Johnstown on Sunday.

Johnstown's Moneyman team helped organize the egg hunt for the second year at Sargent’s Stadium, but they say the idea came from someone else.

18-year-old Dylan Laverty says the event is "a long time coming."

He says he thought of the idea as a fourth grader and last year was able to bring it to Moneyman.

Organizers say the eggs are laid across the field, allowing participants to hunt at their own pace.

There are also tables with activities like face painting and sensory stations.

Laverty says he has autism and ADHD. He says he wanted to give kids in the community with special needs an opportunity.

“I thought it was wrong that they were being mistreated for just one simple disability. I just thought that was so wrong. It really made my heart hurt, so I wanted to do something nice for them.”

Organizers say there were prize tables so that "nobody would go home empty handed."
