A Huntingdon County attorney has been suspended for her handling of a criminal and civil case, from a few years ago, that involved animal cruelty.

Authorities say Marianne Sawicki is suspended from the bar for a period of one year and one day, starting January 24th.

They say her discipline stems from alleged misconduct during the criminal and civil cases of a Huntingdon woman who was charged with animal cruelty after her property was found to be in deplorable condition.

The civil case involved the property, animals, and demolition of the woman's home.

Sawicki is accused of misconduct including reaching out to the defendant and representing her without her permission.

Authorities say Sawicki also filed court documents on the defendant's behalf even after the defendant made clear that she did not want Sawicki representing her.
