Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — The Eldorado Civic Association in Altoona, which oversees the Altoona Teener League and Miracle League of Blair County, is asking for the community’s help with their aluminum can recycling program.
The money earned from the recycling goes to help with the upkeep of the baseball fields the leagues use, as well as several civic initiatives such as helping area families around the holidays.
People can help out the organization by dropping off empty aluminum cans at the group’s meeting place, which is located at 5939 California Avenue.
“We’ve been doing the aluminum can collections for decades, however, it’s become more vitally important within the last couple of years. The community is the key to helping us help the kids. The community gives us the key to unlock the gates to the ball fields. We help a thousand kids a year and have over five hundred ball games here a year.”
The Eldorado Civic Organization also accepts monetary donations.
Just this past holiday season, a couple dozen area families received assistance from them.
