DUBOIS, Pa. (WJAC) — In an update to the saga surrounding former DuBois city manager Herm Suplizio, the DuBois Area United Way released a statement about its funds that the state attorney general accuses Suplizio of stealing.

When Attorney General Michelle Henry charged and arrested Suplizio back in March, among her allegations was that the now-suspended city manager stole over $20,000 from the local United Way, where he served as executive director until his resignation following the arrest.
However, the DAUW now disputes some of her claims.
Suplizio was charged and arrested back in March for allegedly stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in funds from local groups and entities, the DAUW among them. Suplizio has been suspended from his position, as he fights through legal proceedings.

The DAUW states that they believe the allegation he stole $21,293.30 from their S&T Bank checking account "lacks merit." Adding to that, they say they don't believe that the $93,000 in cash reportedly taken from their office "were funds that belonged to the DAUW." The agency also states that it's "not a cash-intensive organization," claiming at least a majority of its donors contribute via paper check or direct deposit.
Although, the DAUW mentions that it contacted a bonded locksmith to change all the locks at their building, after learning of those claims. Also after learning all that, the statement says the DAUW's board made initial contact with the attorney general's office, adding that it continues to cooperate with Henry's office on these matters.
Earlier this week, citizens questioned city council at their regular meeting about how almost $100,000 was returned to the city from the DAUW.

In the statement, the DAUW also says that, "from day one," it has "cooperated with law enforcement to allow a complete and proper investigation."
The DAUW did not return our immediate request through voicemail for an on-camera interview. When 6 News arrived at the agency's office just before 2pm on Friday, it appeared to be closed.
6 News reached out to Henry's office for comment on the DAUW's statement. An official there replied that "At this point, we do not have anything to offer on the matter."
