SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (WTVC) — A woman who worked on the cleaning staff of a Tennessee senior living center is accused of stealing items precious to patients there and pawning them off, according to authorities.
Police in Chattanooga arrested 48-year-old Jennifer Rose Kilgore, of Whitwell, on Thursday.
An affidavit obtained by WTVC said Kilgore had been recently hired at Signal Mountain Senior Living.
A resident there called police to say an emerald ring had been taken from her residence. She said it was valued at $500 when she bought it more than 30 years ago.
Investigators learned Kilgore had been fired about a week ago. They also discovered she had pawned "several items" in the past fe months at a pawn shop on Rossville Boulevard in Chattanooga.
An emerald ring was one of the items she pawned, according to the affidavit, and the senior center resident later identified the ring as hers.
A different affidavit revealed Kilgore was also accused of stealing another residents' collection of knives, which were in their original packaging.
The report said the accuser was able to positively identify 15 knives that had recently been pawned.
Kilgore was charged with two counts of exploitation of an adult.
